ROWING FOR RESTORING OUR WORLD'S DYING CORAL REEFS
KIWI FONDUE helps to protect threatened ecosystems by supporting Coral Vita. Coral Vita is growing diverse and resilient corals and outplanting them into degraded reefs.
WHY WE NEED CORAL REEFS?
Coral reefs are one of most important ecosystems on the planet. They are a cornerstone of life in the ocean, supporting 25% of all marine species. These incredible ecosystems are also a source of food for hundreds of millions of people; they power coastal economies around the world through tourism, fishing, and recreation; and reefs shelter coastlines from storms and erosion.
Sadly, coral reef health is collapsing around the world. As reefs die, these ecological wonders and the critical benefits they provide for people disappear. The threats posed from this crisis – from wildlife loss, to homes underwater, to climate refugees –
matters to everyone everywhere.
GENERATE $30 BILLION ANNUALLY
Through coastal protection, fisheries, and tourism reefs are economic powerhouses.
HALF OF REEFS DEAD
In just the past few decades, we have
lost 50% of coral reefs in every region
they're found.
REDUCE WAVE ENERGY
BY 97%
Coral reefs protect coasts against storm surges, waves, and erosion.
OVER 90% TO DIE BY 2050
Scientists project that due to climate change and direct human impacts, over 90% of reefs will be dead by 2050.
SUPPORT 25% OF ALL
MARINE LIFE
Coral reefs are one of the most biodiverse ecosystems on earth.
CARIBBEAN IN DIRE STATE
Over 80% of Caribbean corals have perished, with a long history of human impact taking its toll.
HOW IT WORKS
THE CORAL TANK
The ultimate way to give back to the ocean. You can
sponsor an entire tank full of corals all the way through
their 6 month growth journey. You’ll even get your name
displayed on the tank!

HOW MANY CORALS IN A TANK?
A full tank can hold as many as 1000 coral micro-fragments! They are arranged in grids to allows us to monitor and clean them easily.

HOW FAST DO THEY GROW?
It’s dependent on the species, but we have been seeing growth rates of micro-fragments 1cm2 to 6cm2 in as little as three months. A full growth cycle which includes the growth from plug to cookie will take ~6 months.
WHAT SPECIES OF CORAL ARE THEY?
We currently work with five main species of coral: Staghorn Coral, Elkhorn Coral, Club Tip Finger Coral, Lettuce Coral, Star Coral, Mustard Hill Coral.

WHERE WILL IT BE PLANTED?
We have a number of outplant sites located on the south coast of Grand Bahama. You’ll be able to see these in the member space!
